  • Flint Rock Farm's pastoral setting is just outside the small town of Cameron, N.C.  Mike andLaura Younts, both city born and raised, have enjoyed their country living since 1985 on Laura's grandparents' farm.  Prior to that, Laura enjoyed weekends and summers on the farm, learning as a child the value of hard work along with the pleasures of country living. Laura and Mike's grandsons make the ninth generation living on this farm.
  • 113 acres of the farm have been in the Graham family since ancestors moved there from Scotland in 1791. Flint Rock Farm has been recognized as a "North Carolina Century Farm." Their mission has become to preserve the rural landscape of this heritage farm so that their children and grandchildren can continue to enjoy it for years to come. Laura and Mike are members of the North Carolina Agritourism Networking Association and have learned the importance of educating the public about the value of farmers who feed, clothe and fuel us. At the same time, farm visits provide opportunities for children and adults to enjoy the country.
  • When Laura retired from Cameron Elementary School as a Kindergarten and First Grade teacher, she envisioned sharing their "farm experience" with students who may have never seen goats, horses, donkeys or chickens nor been on a tractor pulled hay ride. Laura has a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and has planned educational activities and farm learning experiences for their visitors. Preserving their agricultural heritage and integrating Core Curriculum Objectives for Learning has enabled Laura to use her thirty-three years of teaching experience to provide an engaging and rewarding day at Flint Rock Farm.
